Imani Mental Health and Wellness LCC,

will strive to provide a client focused treatment approach to address each client’s mental health needs. My treatment approach is on the basis that  individuals have a unique set of mental health needs that require a holistic and unique treatment approach. I have the understanding that no one size fits all and that all individuals are unique with different needs that require a person-centered treatment approach.  The following are mental health services that are offered at Imani Mental Health and Wellness LLC.

Mood Disorders:- Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Adjustment Disorder, Postpartum Depression, Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Anxiety Disorders:- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Panic Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Adjustment Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder:- is a chronic condition that affects millions of children and often continues into adulthood. ADHD includes a combination of persistent problems, such as difficulty sustaining attention, hyperactivity, and impulsive behavior.

Dementia Care: The risk of developing neurodegenerative disorders increases with age, and these conditions often require specialized care and treatment. A diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia impacts your entire family. While there is no cure for dementia, at Imani Mental Health and Wellness, I offer behavioral support and medication services that can help maintain or improve a person’s mental function, manage behavioral symptoms, and make day-to-day living a bit easier for patients and family.

Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluation– This is a term used to describe the initial appointment between the client and the provider. This appointment lasts about 1 hour and provides the provider an opportunity to know the client. The provider may ask questions about the client’s medical and psychiatric history, life experiences, stressors, current, past moods, and behaviors. This information allows the provider to identify and differentiate which symptoms are most bothersome for the individual. Once this determination has been identified, the provider can then determine the best strategy to address the client’s symptoms, collaborate with the client to develop a personalized treatment plan and approach.

Medication Management:-  Psychopharmacology is often used to treat psychiatric disorders, depending on the severity of your symptom’s medications may be warranted. However, it is important to understand that while a medication may work for one person, may not work for a different person. Also, different people require different doses of medication, and it may take time to find the right medication AND the right dose. I work closely with clients to understand their treatment goals, and their thoughts and feelings about medications. I often present options, treatment rationales and education to help guide clients in making informed decisions that feel adequate for them.

Tele-Psychiatry- Telepsychiatry allows for the delivery of mental health care through videoconferencing. What exactly does that mean? That means that while Imani Mental Health and Wellness is located in Portland Oregon, our clients can reside anywhere within the state of Oregon. There may be cases where the patient is too acute to be seen via videoconferencing, I would therefore advocate that you plan accordingly as distance can be a barrier to obtaining your care.

Individual Psychotherapy- I do not offer stand-alone therapy but combine psychotherapeutic interventions with medication management appointments. I do offer supportive talk therapy that can provide insights around management of Stress, life transitions, depression, anxiety and relational issues. If you do have a therapist, I willingly collaborate with them, if you do not have anyone, I can assist you find a talk therapist that may be a good fit for you. Current psychiatric evidence does show good outcomes of psychiatric disorders when treatment is combined with both therapy and medications.
